There won't be another audit of the sports and entertainment centre
project after councillors scrapped the idea Tuesday night.
Councillor Mark Gerretsen withdrew the motion that had been on the table
for about two months.
It had been delayed from the April 3 meeting of council to give Gerretsen and
Councillor Rob Hutchison, the movers of the motion, time to reword it.
"This is the motion that keeps going and going," he said. "If it pleases
council, we'd like to withdraw this motion."
Gerretsen said the information council has been receiving from staff has been
better than it was when the motion was first introduced.
He said he's also noticed a change in the style and information contained in
reports from staff overseeing the project.
In March, chief administrative officer Glen Laubenstein pegged the cost of an
audit by a third party at about $150,000.
